My review:

Kayla Swartz watched her father go in and out of jail as a child, so she was worried about her half-sister, Olive, going through the same trauma as she had. When she received a desperate call from her father, she rushed back to Snowberry, her hometown, only to find him and Olive missing. She never expected to run into Nicholas, her high school crush, or for him to help keep them safe. Kayla had always struggled to trust others after her father’s manipulations. She always shut men out before their relationship could develop into something serious. Her trust in Nicholas grew as they worked together, but could she trust him enough to let him into her future?

“Success means different things to different people…. Making a name for myself meant I accomplished what I’d set out to do. If I’m honest, my business has made me a lot of money, but there’s still a hole inside me.”

After losing his chance at becoming a professional football player, Nicholas Galanis felt like he had to prove himself to his father. After leaving the military, he started a successful security firm in L.A. but never felt complete. After returning to Snowberry and seeing Kayla again, those things didn’t seem as important anymore. He wanted to be close to his family and wanted a simple life in Snowberry.

The journey Kayla and Nicholas traveled to have a second chance together was full of hope, learning to trust again, suspense, and full of heartfelt emotions. I was hooked on the book from the beginning and the twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a great and entertaining clean Christian romance that I highly recommend.

My review:

The Forever Farmhouse is the first book in the new Hometown Brothers series which is based on three foster boys’ homecoming to Teaberry Island. Betty and Wayne Raines were unable to have children of their own, so they fostered troubled teenage boys at their farmhouse on the shoreline of Teaberry Island. They provided Ryan, Cody, and Luis with a place to heal and find themselves. This was Mellie and Ryan’s homecoming story.

Years prior Ryan Hasting had panicked and left the island after he spent one night with will Mellie. He never got over his love for Mellie so when he returns home to check on Betty all those feelings returned. He found himself hoping for another chance but the truth about Mellie’s son changes everything.

Mellie Anderson’s heart was broken after Ryan ran after their one night together. When he returns to the island years later, she struggles with the decision she made years ago. She knows Alfie, her brilliant son, needs Ryan’s guidance but to keep her secret she needs to avoid him.

Mellie was so a sweet character and she truly thought she was protecting her son by keeping the truth from Ryan. She realizes her mistake and wants to tell him the truth but is afraid of losing him a second time. Can they overcome their fears and anger for a second chance at love?

This is a charming small-town romance that will give you all the fell goods and leave you smiling. It was beautifully written with an entertaining storyline. The characters were genuine and likable. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait for Cody’s story which will be next.
