Serve 'N' Protect (Federal K-9 Book 5) Release

Serve 'N' Protect (Federal K-9 Book 5) by Tee O'Fallon

Released: September 20, 2021
Amazon linkServe 'N' Protect

Ambushed and left for dead, U.S. Secret Service K-9 Officer Markus York is on the mend and laying low in a safe house while his team tracks down his attacker. But Markus isn’t good at sitting still. Even with his K-9, Ghost, for company, he gets restless and decides now is the perfect time to do some repairs around the house…and inadvertently tears open his wounds.

Fresh out of a bad relationship that ended after a car accident left her with limited mobility, freelance accountant Cassidy Morgan has sworn off men. At least, that’s the plan. Until a frantically barking dog leads her to a neighbor’s house where she finds a mysterious man out cold and bleeding on the floor...and mumbling things like “no, they’ll find me” when she tries to call an ambulance.

Yeah, that’s not at all concerning.

Despite Markus’s surly attitude, Cassidy senses there’s something else at work beneath his rugged, keep-your-distance exterior. Whatever it is, it’s sexy as hell.

With someone still trying to kill him, Markus doesn’t want an innocent to get hurt, let alone take care of him.

If only his dog wasn’t crazy in love with her.

If only the chemistry between Markus and Cassidy didn’t explode whenever they were in the same room.

If only Cassidy wasn’t a target now, too.

My review:

Serve ‘N’ Protect is the fifth book in the Federal K-9 series by Tee O’Fallon.  This has been a great series and each new book gets better and better.  This was easy to read and a fast read for me.  I was hooked from the beginning and the intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat until the end.  The characters and storyline were realistic and had many layers.  I really enjoy reading about these amazing dogs and their loyalty to their owners.  This was definitely a book worth reading and one that I would read again.

Review: Their Christmas Baby Contract

Their Christmas Baby Contract Their Christmas Baby Contract by Shannon Stacey

Blurb:
Striking the deal was the easy part.

He’ll help her make a beautiful baby.

Brady Nash is handsome and anti marriage. And with IVF completely out of her financial reach, Reyna Bishop is running out of time to have the child she so very much wants. Theirs is a practical baby-making deal: no emotion, no expectation, no ever-after. They’ll even “date” through Christmas to silence their hometown gossips. It’s foolproof…till the time she spends with Brady and his warm, loving family leaves Reyna wanting more than a baby…

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My review:

Their Christmas Baby Contract is the second book in the Blackberry Bay series but was fine reading as a stand-alone.  This was a new author for me, and I am so glad I discovered her.  The book was original with a unique storyline.  I loved the small-town of Blackberry Bay and meeting all the heartwarming side characters.

Reyna Bishop and Brady Nash grew up together and Brady had fallen in love with Reyna in first grade.  He’d loved her so long that when he finally got her in his arms and bed his “performance” was not good.  Over the years they had avoided each other due to the awkwardness.  Reyna was ready to have a baby but did not want a man in her life.  She decides to ask Brady if he will father a child with her.  Their lives change when she discovers she is pregnant.  Can they get over their fears of rejection and admit their true feelings for each other before it is too late?

I enjoyed reading this book and meeting the town residents of Blackberry Bay.  This was a book that left me with a big smile on my face.  Reyna and Brady were perfect for each other.  I was cheering for Brady the entire time because his love for Reyna was so apparent and I wanted his dreams to come true.

Review: On the Run

On the RunOn the Run by Valerie Hansen

Blurb:
Is she running from danger—or into it?

When a desperate criminal pulls a gun on her in the ER, nurse Janie Kirkpatrick is in deep trouble—until undercover cop Brad Benton saves her life. Now Janie’s a witness with a lethal enemy and on the run with a stranger. She has no choice but to trust Brad. But can he take down the criminals before a murderer parts them forever?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
My review:

On the Run is the third book in the Emergency Responders series.  It was a new-to-me author and I don’t feel like I missed anything by starting in the middle of the series. The book was well written, perfectly paced, and had a developed plot.  It caught my attention from the first page with an intense scene in the ER.  There was lots of action, mystery, twists and turns, and a very unexpected ending.  I loved the characters and instantly connected with them.  They were genuine, compassionate, and heart-rending.

Brad Benton is an undercover cop trying to discover the top leaders of a drug ring.  He risks his cover when he protects the ER nurse, Janie Kirkpatrick.  He hoped to maintain his cover but realizes it’s too late when he gets ambushed while doing a drop-off.  Now he is on the run with Janie and both their lives are at stake.  Janie Kirkpatrick was terrified when she was held at gunpoint in the ER.  She was not sure why Brad helped her and later doubted his warning when he contacts her to warn her to leave town.  Once she discovers her life really is in danger, she knows she must help Brad in his mission.  Can they identify the top leaders before they are murdered?

Wow, this was an intense and action-filled story.  I loved all the twists and was extremely surprised with the ending, which I never would have seen coming.  This was definitely a book I could not put down until I finished it.

Review: Christmas Under the Northern Lights

Christmas Under the Northern Lights Christmas Under the Northern Lights by Annie O'Neil
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a new-to-me author and I’m so glad I got the chance to read this book.  It was a sweet second chance Christmas romance for two people who had gone to the remote island of Bourtree Island.  It was well written and had a developed storyline.  The characters were charming and the island residents were heartwarming.  Both Audrey and Cooper were both there to figure out their future and help the island residents by providing medical care.

Audrey Walsh was running to escape Christmas and her fiancĂ©’s betrayal.  She was committed to spending five weeks being the district nurse to the community.  She was touched by the resident’s open hearts and their love for family.

Dr. Cooper “Coop” MacAskill grew up on Bourtree Island but had left it behind when he was old enough.  Now he has returned but feels guilty for not coming back before his grandmother passed.  Coop has been offered the job as the physician for the island but is not sure he wants to return after the hard time he had as a child living on the island.  Can Audrey and Cooper find their future on the isolated island providing medical care to the community?

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
