My review:

Cease Fire is the ninth book in the Blackbridge Security series by Marie James. Even though the books can be read as stand-alone, you will want to read them all after reading one of them.  I cannot seem to get enough of these men and their witty humor and intrigue.  We met the main characters in the previous books and the tension between them was intense.  I was looking forward to this book and could not wait for it to be released.  

Kit had loved Jules forever, but she was Beth’s, his older sister’s best friend.  She had shot him down when they were younger, and they had spent years avoiding each other.  So, when she seduces him at his sister’s wedding, he hopes things have changed.  

First off, I loved Kit, he was so sweet and such a great guy.  He truly loved Jules and even after finding out she is pregnant, she tells everyone it is his best friend’s baby; he is there for her.  He stands by her and allows everyone to believe the lie while it breaks his heart.  

I didn’t care for Jules, and that didn’t change after reading the book.  I understand she had lost all her family and was afraid of losing Beth, but she purposely got pregnant and then lied to everyone.  She continues to lie and hurt Kit but only thinks of herself.  I don’t feel like she was ever truly sorry for her actions in hurting Kit.  So, I don’t feel like she redeemed herself.  

I enjoyed the book even though I didn’t like Jules and I look forward to future books with the Blackbridge men.

Let's see...where to begin...

I'm inching up on the BIG 4-0. The gray hairs are doubling what seems like daily, and the wrinkles and laugh lines are more pronounced than ever.

I have an amazing husband (Married just over 15 years.)

We have two boys we're doing our best to raise as respectful gentleman.

I have a master's degree in criminal justice which I used to work as a juvenile probation office until deciding to write full-time in June of 2019. So that means there's usually always some criminal/law element to my novels.

If I'm not writing; I'm reading.

My favorite genres recently are bully/reverse harem and enemies to lovers. Maybe I'm reliving my traumatic teen years through the girls who actually end up with the boys. (Not that I would change my history since it's gotten me exactly where I need to be!)

I love coffee. I miss carbs. Music is LIFE. I try not to be too serious.

My review:

The Surprise Seduction is the fifth book in the Landry Love series by Amy Alves.  This was a new-to-me author and reading the book as a stand-alone was no problem.  Except now I can’t wait to read them all so starting at the beginning would have been better.  It took place in the small town of Landry and had all the small community feel goods.  The characters were lovable, and I really enjoyed meeting all of them especially The Landry Life League (The League).  They were a group of Landry citizens who loved to meddle in others' life and were always trying to match people together.

Garrett and Aria were the perfect couple; he was broody and systematic whereas she was impulsive and whimsical.  Garrett had denied his feelings for Aria for years until she moves back to Landry because she was his sister’s best friend and several years younger.  Aria had crushed on Garrett since she was a teenager, but she was tired of allowing herself to fall for the wrong guys.  

“Loving being in a relationship isn’t the same as loving the person I’m in a relationship with.  I don’t need to be in a relationship to feel loved if I have family, friends, and self-love.”

I really enjoyed the book and recommend it.  I can not wait to read the other books in the series and the next one which is Sean’s book.
