When I Had You, an all-new single dad, enemies to lovers, sports romance from New York Times bestselling author S.L. Scott is now available!

Cash Ryatt is a distraction.

It’s no secret the bad boy race car driver has built a reputation from two things. Winning and fu—front-page headlines. I’ve read he’s the best at both, but I have no intention of finding out firsthand.

I have my own plans, and they don’t include making the gossip sites as his next one-night stand. My three older brothers, his bosses, would never stand for it anyway.

So, how did I find myself daydreaming about the one man I’ve been forbidden from dating?

His mere proximity causes my heart to beat wildly in my chest.

My knees go weak when his eyes find mine across the track.

But it’s the way he kisses me as if the rest of the world doesn’t exist that has me falling into his playboy trap.

I finally surrender to temptation, but only for one night, and for the record, there was no standing involved except against a door that got in our way.

But no deed goes unpunished. No matter how good we are together. He’s given an ultimatum. Will he take his last chance to win the world championship or follow his heart and race back to me?

Announcements blare overhead, but I’m focused ahead and specifically on the left.

      White shirt against tanned skin.

Brown hair mixed with some blond, which reflects in the sun.

My attention is set on the woman ahead . . . the woman who is too busy to look up from her phone to notice me. I pause, waiting for her to see me. This is a meet and greet, after all. Everyone is only here to greet or to meet me. Except her.

Her eyes stay trained on the phone in her hand. As if I didn’t just prove that this team is a real contender. As if I’m not the star of this show. As if I don’t even exist.

      What the fuck?”

People pay thousands of dollars for this opportunity, to have this proximity to greatness, and she’s going to stand there and look at her phone? Fuck that.

I swerve left, the device slipping from her hand just as I pass. Oops.

“What the hell?” Her voice is just a distant memory as I walk away, grinning like the bastard I am.

Wanting to relish the fact she’s now paying attention like she should have been, I slow my pace and glance back. I’m met with blazing blues, lips pursed, hands fisted at the sides of her wound-up little body I wouldn’t mind unraveling. The anger flushing her cheeks gives a hint of innocence that’s tempting to destroy with a good fucking. Though when she cocks her eyebrow and narrows her eyes at me, I know the fire she exudes will burn.

Two layers of a racing kit won’t hide my body’s reaction that she pulls to the surface. The tinted visor doesn’t protect my eyes from her piercing glare either. I keep walking, turning my back to her.

I have a bad habit of finding trouble when I should be steering clear, and that sexy vixen is not only a distraction but a problem I don’t need.

Entering the shop, I pull off my helmet. I barely get it tucked under my arm when I’m shoved from behind. Although it’s too weak to send me forward, it’s the point that someone has the balls to push me at all. “What the—?”

Whipping around, I’m ready to lay into whoever has the nerve to touch me but am stopped when our eyes latch together. I should have known it would be the firecracker with the phone. One hand is clasped around the curve of her waist and the other holding that phone like it’s a lifeline. I smirk. She’s hot. I’ll give her that. She’s also amusing.

Images of sinking into her, feeling the tips of her nails digging into my shoulders, those pink lips begging me to let her take me deeper. Fuck, and I bet those tits would look great pressed against a bathroom mirror. “You want my attention, babe. I’m all yours.”

Holding the phone up to my face, she says, “You owe me a phone.”

I step back, my gaze darting to the shattered screen and then to her. She’s prettier up close, even if the devil has taken over the details of her expression. “Accidents happen.”

      “It wasn’t an accident.”

I turn to leave. “Bill the team.”

“The team didn’t do it, asshole.” Her voice stops me, and I shoot her a look over my shoulder. She adds, “You did. On purpose. I saw you.” Of course, she did. She hasn’t taken her eyes off me since. I grin. “So you owe me a new phone.”

Taking my time, I take her in, my gaze hanging on her perky tits just long enough for it to be noted. By her, of course. I know how to push a button or two myself.

“Eyes up here.” She crosses her arms over her chest with such authority as if the simple act has solved the world’s problems.

Closing the gap again, I leave a small space between us, close enough to get a hint of her floral perfume but far enough just in case she comes out swinging physically like she has verbally. “I don’t take orders from anyone except those who sign my paycheck. So run along and find another driver to harass. I have no patience for an intolerable fangirl.”

I’ve never found fury as fascinating as when it consumes her, shifting her body into a tension that I’m fairly certain is not doctor-recommended. “Fangirl?” Her mouth falls open as her eyes widen farther. “Me harass you?” The fire returns, an inferno burning her up as a storm brews in her eyes, darkening her blue skies. “You have some nerve, ass—”

“Marina?” The voice is firm but calm, the exact opposite of this little spitfire in front of me.

Good. Noah Westcott enters the paddock, rushing toward us. As an owner and the marketing director, he’ll be able handle her better than I will. Then I see Loch and Harbor as well, flanking him. Fuck, let’s just make it an owner’s party, shall we?”

They’re all good guys. Noah is as close to a friend as I’ll ever let anyone. But having all three of them at the track isn’t typical operating procedure and puts me on edge.

I wait, giving a small nod to signal toward the woman who appears justified in her stance as she grins in their direction. Her confidence is impressive, considering she’s about to be escorted off the property and probably banned for life from Principle One Racing as soon as security arrives.

“Marina,” Noah starts again. “I see you’ve met one of our drivers.”

Did they call her Marina? As in the youngest of the Westcott siblings, Marina?

As in, the little sister gifted a share of the team last year for her birthday? The same sister who’s an actress?

      Shit . . .

“Cash,” Noah says, “I see you’ve met my sister Marina.”

Mine to Share by Kennedy L. Mitchell

Five murders, one killer, and a chance at an unconventional happily ever after.

Mine to Share, an all-new page-turning, MFM, forced-proximity romantic suspense from bestselling author Kennedy L. Mitchell is available now!

Two years ago, flirty FBI agent Jameson Bend was the crush I left behind.
Today, the grumpy Detective Slade is the man who stars in my dirty fantasies.

When my autopsy findings connect five recent murders committed by a single suspect, Jameson and Slade join forces to help solve the series of homicides. Toss in my emotionally abusive ex-husband stalking me, and I’ll not only need Jameson and Slade’s help to piece the clues together on the case but also to protect me from my ex’s attempts to force me back under his control.

As we work side by side in the heat of the investigation, our longing turns into desire, and soon we’re tangled in a passionate affair that could cost us our jobs—and lives. They cater to every side of me, one sweet and sensitive, the other possessive and protective. I never expected to end up with two men, but now I can’t imagine my life without them.

But with the killer hiding in plain sight, I walk right into a carefully planned trap.
If my men can’t get to me before time runs out…
Our happily ever after will end before it even gets started.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

My review:

WOW! Just when I decide on a favorite book, Ms. Mitchell delivers another one that blows me away. This series just keeps getting better! Spicy romance, hot alpha heroes, suspense, and plenty of twists and turns are just a few things you will find. “Oh no, that doesn’t work on me anymore. You’ve shown me your softer side, so I know you’re just a big ole cinnamon roll inside that giant, tough exterior.” Mine to Share is the seventh book in the Protection series. It is told from multiple POVs, but Ms. Mitchell does a great job breaking the sections up. At times multiple points of view can get confusing, but this book was easy to read and easy to follow the character dialogue and thoughts. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and the unknown kept me reading until I finished it. After meeting Jameson in the previous book, I was sad when Remi and Tallon paired up and left him alone. So, I was so glad to see him find his people. I loved how Rain, Slade, and Jameson complemented each other. They made the perfect couple. I highly recommend the book; as always, I am anxiously waiting for the next one to be available. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Maybe Josh was right that he was the only one who would put up with my increasing level of crazy.
Elbows pressed onto the cool counter, I smacked my face into both palms and raked my fingers back until they tugged through my loose strands.
No. Josh was not right. He was a manipulating asshole who made me dependent on him by making me feel unwanted and unlovable.
Though it was difficult to not see a sliver of truth in his blunt words. Who would want to put up with someone like me long term? My mental state most days was the definition of a shit show, not a hot mess. Looking back, I knew that was why I’d settled for Josh—I thought he was the best someone like me could do.
After that first time he cheated on me, then blamed me, claiming he did it because I worked too much and was never home, I should’ve left. But by that point, I believed his lies, questioning myself and what I had to offer anyone else.
Until a smirking, good-looking detective strolled into the morgue one day.
The man who helped me see through Josh’s lies and manipulations was now back in my life, this time as an FBI agent here to help identify a serial killer. Back then, Jameson was casual about uncovering the issues in my marriage that I wanted to keep hidden. Not sure how he put everything together, but he did. Six months after we first met, our innocent flirting turned pointed, even uplifting in a way. He would constantly build me up, telling me over and over that I was enough.
Not enough for him or anyone else, but for me.
In his own unique way, Jameson gave me the strength to be okay with loving myself just the way I am, quirks and all. I didn’t have to conform to Josh’s needs or wants if they didn’t align with my own—which they never did.
And now that amazing man was here.
My past crush working side by side with my current one.
“Fuck,” I muttered to my reflection. “I can’t even keep my heart rate normal with Slade in the room. I’ll turn into a puddle of mush when it’s both of them.” One hand slipped down my neck, fingers wrapping around the base of my throat. “Both of them,” I whispered, licking my lips. “Me between them—”
The familiar vibration of an incoming text jerked me out of losing myself to the very dirty fantasy. Pulling out my cell, I skimmed the text letting me know the body was back at the morgue and waiting for me. Time to get back to work now that I knew for certain my house wouldn’t turn into ground zero for setting the entire state of California on fire.
As I turned to head for the door, my fingers shifted along a texture different from my smooth cell phone case. Pausing, I rotated my hand to see what was stuck back there.
The note.
What if all my worrying projected into the universe and this was from a neighbor wanting to get to know me? Which could be great, but my nose wrinkled at the thought of all the effort it took to build friendships. An extrovert I was not, so starting a flimsy acquaintance with this unknown neighbor sounded exhausting.
Preparing for the worst, I unfolded the notebook paper.
Three words.
That was all it took to erase all concerns of the hypothetical neighbor friendship, douse the smoldering flames the thoughts of Slade, Jameson, and me together stoked, and make me forget all about the dead body waiting for me at the morgue.
I found you
“Damnit,” I whispered, the paper shaking between my fingers.
Was my dad right about being worried for my safety?
Was I in danger?

The One I Need by Chelle Sloan

The One I Need, an all-new opposite-attract, accidental marriage standalone romance full of heat from bestselling author Chelle Sloan is available now!

You’re cordially invited to the wedding of Oliver Price and Izzy McCall…

That’s how my wedding invitations should have started. I should know, I’ve had my wedding planned since I was ten.

I should’ve been wearing a designer tuxedo, not a tuxedo t-shirt.

The wedding should’ve been in a church with family and friends, not in a 1960’s style chapel with Elvis as the officiant.

It’s nothing I ever imagined.

Except the girl.

She’s the only thing about this accidental marriage that is exactly right. Even if we’re complete opposites.

I’m glass-half-full and crazy colored socks. She’s glass-half-empty and power suits.

I love love. She thinks it doesn’t exist.

I want to stay married. She wants a divorce.
A problem for all newlyweds, right?

From the moment I met Izzy, I knew she was the only one I’d ever need.

Now I just need to convince my wife that I’m the one for her.

My head is spinning and pounding at the same time, and it has nothing to do with the loud music playing at this wedding reception or the obnoxious amount of liquor I’ve consumed.
Okay, the spinning is because of the booze. But the pounding? That’s because my best friend Wes is a fucking idiot. I’m hammered out of my damn mind and even I see that. And I’m seeing three of everything right now.
“It’s your future that’s going to be alone and miserable.”
Wes shoots a glare to our friend Simon, who isn’t backing down to Wes’s insane logic. “But her future is what I’m trying to save!”
“Is she not a part of your future?”
Wes snaps a look to Shane, our friend who usually keeps his mouth shut. Hell, Simon and I both are now staring at the normally broody one of the bunch, surprised he chimed in.
“What did you say?” Wes asks.
Shane leans his elbows on the table. “I said, before this fight, was Betsy not part of your future?”
“Of course she was.”
“Then why can’t you be part of hers?”
Damn…I can actually feel my brain explode with the truth bomb Shane just dropped.
I look over to Wes, who still hasn’t said anything.
Is he really this dense? He has to be. He has this amazing woman who came into his life when he least expected it, fell in love with him, loves his kids like they are her own, and yet because he can’t get out of his own way, he’s going to fuck everything up.
Does he not realize people would kill for that kind of partner? That it’s what some of us look for our entire lives? That some of us—me—are starting to think that it’s just not in the cards? Is he really going to throw that away?
“She loves you, Wes,” I say. I think I interrupted him, but I don’t give a shit. “She loves the kids. She’s the kind of woman you hope to fall in love with one day. I don’t know what’s going on in your head but don’t push that away. Some of us look for this kind of love our entire lives. You have it. And now look at it.”
I nod to the dance floor where Betsy is dancing with one of Wes’s former Nashville Fury teammates. It’s a slower song—a wedding staple, if you ask me. Everyone who’s here with a date is on the dance floor.
Which means that’s my cue for another trip to the bar.
I love weddings. I’m the best wedding date there is if I do say so myself. I like to dance and have fun. I will lead any conga line. Need a dancing partner for the great-grandmother? I’m your guy. Need someone to hype the newlyweds up? I’m here for it.
And when it comes to catching the garters? No one is better than me. Most guys run away from it. Not me. I’ll grab that thing every fucking time and celebrate like I just caught a foul ball at a Tennessee Arrows game.
The old wives’ tale is that when you catch it, you’re next. Bullshit. It’s all bullshit. I’ve caught seventeen of them. Yet here I am, still alone.
“Jack and Coke.”
I don’t know why I needed to say it. I’ve been to the bar so many times tonight this man knows my drink by now. He sets it in front of me, and I turn around to watch the couples on the dance floor.
I should be out there. I thought Shannon, the girl I was seeing as of today, was going to turn into something special. Yes, it was stupid to say what I said. And I apologized. Apparently she’s never said or done anything stupid before, like proposing marriage during sex.
Whatever. That just means she wasn’t the one. The woman who I’m supposed to be with is out there somewhere. One day I’ll find her.
Hopefully. Maybe. Possibly.
“Jack and Coke. Make it a double.”
I look to my left and nearly lose my footing. And not because of the six Jack and Cokes I’ve had tonight. It’s because of the woman standing next to me.
She’s that damn gorgeous.
Her fiery red hair is sleek and smooth, running down past her shoulders. The gold dress she’s wearing is fitted and catching every one of her mouthwatering curves. And a woman who drinks Jack and Coke? Now that’s my type.
And because I’m so drunk, I’m seeing two of her.
Double the pleasure, double the fun.
“Do you want to dance?”
She turns to look at me, and even in my drunkenness I can tell she doesn’t know if I was talking to her.
“Excuse me?”
I nod over to the dance floor. “I asked if you’d like to dance?”
“Do you always ask strangers to dance?”
“Only the beautiful ones.”
She rolls her eyes. “Now that’s a line if I’ve ever heard one.”
I shake my head. “Not a line.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Well, sorry,” she says as she takes her drink from the bartender. “I don’t dance.”
“What do you mean you don’t dance? Who doesn’t dance?”
“Me,” she says before taking a sip. “Sorry to ruin your night.”
She turns back to the bar, but I don’t let that stop me. I’m persistent, if nothing else. It’s part of my charm. At least I like to think so.
“I’m Oliver.”
I extend my hand to her, because that’s what drunk me feels like is the right thing to do at the moment. For a second I think she’s just going to walk away. She looks down at my hand and then back up to me. I’m about to pull it back and crack a joke to make it a little less awkward when her hand meets mine. I don’t know if it’s the booze or what, but I swear I think I was just electrocuted.
“Nice to meet you Oliver. I’m Izzy. How about another drink?”

REED

Austen Caraway. There’s a name I’ve never been able to forget. Gran mentioned she was moving home to become the head librarian. I didn’t consider I’d run into her when I walked through the library door.
Okay, that’s a lie. I totally knew she was who I’d find when I showed up. She’s all I’ve thought about since she moved back in down the street.
I hadn’t counted on how incredibly gorgeous she has become, though. She had been pretty in high school, even with the braces. But, with her ass being caressed by the tightest skirt in history as she leaned over the file cabinet. Holy hell. My instant semi almost proved an embarrassment when she turned around.
Except it got worse when she did turn around. Just looking into those deep brown eyes again made my heart skip a beat. Corny, I know. But that’s what happened. That’s what always happened when she looked at me growing up.
Her rich brunette hair with the gold highlights, the sexy as fuck glasses, and full lips the color of bubble gum almost brought me to my knees. My mind races to another place. One with her leg hiked up on my shoulder. My tongue slowly…but I digress.
She wasn't interested in me in school, and chances are good she’s not interested in me now. Granted, I did turn into a complete douchebag trying to get her attention after that first introduction. The harder I tried to get her to notice me, the more she ignored me. It drove me crazy.
I doubt pissing her off enough to break my nose that first time helped, either. I started my first day of high school in a new place with two fading black eyes. Luckily, no one ever found out I got my ass handed to me by a girl. A younger girl at that. Damn, that girl had a hell of an arm. Puberty hit me hard after that.
Now I have a raging hard-on as I stomp to my truck in the parking lot. Just once I’d like to engage Austen in sophisticated conversation, resulting in her accepting an invitation to dinner.
But, I can’t seem to stop slipping into the role of insulting asshole. Which leaves her the part of incensed vixen. The only difference now is she was dressed like a wet dream. Leaving me with raging blue balls. Ugh, why does she get to me like this?
Just when I’m starting to get my stupid feet back on the ground in this town. The last thing I need is Austen Caraway messing with my chi. Or is it chai? One is tea and the other is that self-centering mumbo jumbo. Either way, she is going to fuck it up.

He’s always been the most beautiful boy I’ve ever known. He’s just as stunning as a man.

His attitude though? I can still do without it.

We might be able to build something, if he’d just keep his mouth closed.

Can I learn to get along with the boy from down the street?

Only if he learns to play nice.

The One I Need by Chelle Sloan

From the moment I met Izzy, I knew she was the only one I’d ever need.

The One I Need, an all-new heat-filled, opposite-attract, accidental marriage romance and standalone in the Rolling Hills series from bestselling author Chelle Sloan is available now!

Overruled by Bella Matthews

“You gonna catch me if I fall, Becks?”

Overruled, an all-new heat-filled, marriage-of-convenience in The Defiant Kings Series from USA Today bestselling author Bella Matthews is available now!

“You gonna catch me if I fall, Becks?”

I should have known those words, whispered to my best friend’s brother, would come back to haunt me . . . But I had no idea he’d be the only one who could save me when my world threatens to come crashing down.

Becket Kingston is a lot of things. Tall, dark and deliciously handsome, he’s corded muscle hidden beneath an expensive suit, with eyes the color of an angry ocean, and a sharp tongue good for so many things.

And this future US Senator with a brain even bigger than his bank account is about to be my fake husband.

It was supposed to be easy . . . until it wasn’t. This relationship we carefully curated for the public has become something completely different behind closed doors—and the occasional open ones.

I knew we needed to lie to everyone we loved to pull this off.

But how long can we lie to ourselves?

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

My review:

Be still my heart!  The last single Kingston male finds his happy ever after and it’s a heart-wrenching story.

“When the universe puts something special in front of you, you grab it with both f******* hands and hold on for as long as you can.  There’s no rhyme or reason to it.  You never know what’s coming down the road and how it might change your life.  But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t embrace it and see it for what it is…”

Overruled is the fourth book in the Defiant Kings series, although the books can be read as standalones, you will want to read all of them once you start reading! The series keeps improving with every book, and I have absolutely adored the Kingston family.  They are a close-knit family, and they are steadfast in their support of one another.

“One day, you’ll understand the way you’d burn the world down around you just to protect someone you love.  Jules is that for me. “

This marriage of convenience between Beckett and his sister’s best friend, Juliette, should have ten stars.  It was just so good!  I loved their chemistry and watching them adjust to family life.  They are perfect for each other, and I cannot wait to see what is coming next for the Kingston family.

Juliette

I wake up the next morning with a killer headache and a foggy memory of last night.

Shots on the beach with Becket Kingston.

A lot of shots.

What the hell was I thinking, drinking like that with him

I don’t typically have more than a single drink. It’s not worth the hassle. But apparently, that didn’t matter last night. With a bass drum beating a nasty rhythm behind my eyes, I look around the room, quickly realize it’s not mine, and then pull the covers over my head. “No  .  .  .”

The blanket is pulled slowly from my body, and the deliciously gorgeous man in question stands at the foot of the bed. “Get out of bed, Juliette. The plane takes off in three hours.”

I sit up, grateful to be wearing a t-shirt, even if it does smell like Becks. If I thought I could get away with it, I’d try to inhale the intoxicating scent, but he’s watching me. Not all men smell good, but this one always does. Like fresh rain and something else. Something sexy. “Remind me again why I’m in your bed  .  .  . and your clothes, Becks.”

He drags his sweat-drenched t-shirt over his head and tosses it into an open suitcase. I guess Prince Charming just came back from a run on the beach. My eyes stall, unavoidably glued to his glistening abs. All eight of them.

What the hell is Becket doing with an eight-pack?

He works in an office and wears suits for a living.

“My eyes are up here, Juliette.”

Fucker.

“You’re in my room because you went a little heavy on the shots last night and couldn’t remember which room was yours.”

Relief washes over me in a cool, refreshing wave. Lenny’s brother is fun to fight with, but that’s all he can ever be. “Right. Sorry about that. I can’t believe I drank so much. It’s been years since I’ve wasted carbs on alcohol. I guess it hit me harder than I thought it would.”

I stand up, stretch out my legs, and tug the tee down over my ass. Then I look up at him. I always liked that Lenny’s brothers are taller than me. It happens less than you think when you’re five foot ten. “So, you let me sleep in your bed? Where did you sleep?”

Becks chuckles a deep, gravelly laugh that sends a tingle down my body. “It’s a king-sized bed, Juliette. I slept on the other side.” Before I can say anything else, he adds, “Nothing happened.”

“Oh, thank God,” I laugh nervously. “Phew. Lenny would have killed me if I defiled you.”

Becket saunters closer and drags a finger up my neck, sending a violent shiver down my spine. “You might want to remember that the next time you decide to strip out of your clothes in front of a man, Juliette. I doubt most would show the same restraint I did.”

For a second, I feel bad.

“But it’s nice to see the carpet really does match the drapes.”

Fuck feeling bad. Now I feel stabby. Asshole

I grab my clothes off the floor and find my purse on the dresser. “You’ve always got to ruin the nice moments by being a dick, Becket.”

“See you on the plane, Jules.” His lips tip up into a crooked, cocky smile, and if I had any panties on, they’d spontaneously burst into flames. There’s just something about Becket Kingston. Damn him.

I’m pretty sure I growl in response.

Great. One week with the Kingstons, and I’m as feral as the rest of them.

I let myself out of his hut, and yup  .  .  . this morning has officially gotten worse. Lenny, her husband, Bash, and their two boys are talking to her brother Hudson and his wife, Maddie, and their daughter. All of them—even the kids—stop talking as soon as I walk out onto the sand, and I want to crawl in a hole and die. Maybe I should have put my dress back on, but in my defense, Becket’s t-shirt is the same length on my legs as my dress was. I watch as Lenny’s brows shoot up in question before she looks behind me at the damn hut.

And of course, that’s when Becket opens the door.

“You forgot your shoes—” The words hang heavy in the air when he walks into me because I don’t move. Frozen, even though I’m completely off balance.

Becks steadies me with his hands on my hips, and I swallow down my quickly rising hysteria.

Everyone is staring.

“You didn’t,” Lenny hisses, low and mean. Bash ushers her boys down the path toward the main resort before they see their mother explode. “Please, sweet baby Jesus, tell me you did not screw my best friend.”

Oh  .  .  . She’s pissed at him. Oops.

“Really, Eleanor?” Becks taunts her.

“Len  .  .  . we didn’t.” I try to end the conversation before these two get into a fight. “I was drunk and couldn’t find my key. I slept here. Slept, Len. That’s all.”

Lenny eyes me skeptically while Hudson laughs. These damn Kingston men are all such shits. His wife slaps his chest and takes their daughter’s tiny hand in hers. “Come on, Hud. We need to get breakfast before the flight home.”

Hudson tips his chin toward Becket and me. “Bet you two worked up quite an appetite.”

“You’re awful.” Maddie pushes him to move, then looks back at me with a playful smile. “But I wouldn’t mind hearing about it on the plane.”

“Oh my God.” I blush furiously. “There’s nothing to tell. We literally slept.” I cringe and step away from Becket while my best friend shakes herself out of whatever crazed trance she’s fallen into.

“Whatever.” She throws her hands up in the air and slants her eyes my way. “You’re miles better than Medusa. Just don’t hurt him.” She tosses a calculated look back at her brother. “Becket is a serial monogamist.”

“Eleanor,” Becks stops her.

I reach out and grab Lenny’s arm. “Seriously, Len. Nothing happened.”

Her oldest son, Maverick, comes flying down the path. “Come on, Mommy. We’re hungry.”

“Mommy’s coming, sweetie.” She scoops him up on her hip and kisses his mop of floppy brown hair, then looks over his head at Becks and me. “We’ll talk about this on the plane.”

I watch her walk away and cringe as I turn toward Becket, who’s holding my shoes with a wicked grin. “She absolutely thinks we slept together.”

“I’ve seen your dates in the tabloids, Jules. You could do worse.” Becks winks and walks away, leaving me in the sand, ready to scream.
