Waiting for You is the sixth book in the Annapolis Harbor series and the first book I have read by Lea Coll. I am so glad I discovered her books since I love small-town romances and this book delivered. It was fast-paced, easy to read, and had lovable characters.
Alex had returned home from New York, where he had been attending medical school, to Annapolis to finish his medical residency for ED. While completing school, he saw how other doctors’ marriages had been ruined because of how demanding the profession was so he never saw a relationship in his future. But coming home to Annapolis pointed out how empty his current life was and all he was missing out on by being away from his family. His attraction to Ava while staying at the B&B made him reevaluate what he really wanted in life.
Ava had been crushing on Alex, her best friend’s older brother since she was a teenager. She knew she shouldn’t become involved with him since he would be returning to New York and was not interested in a relationship. She had already been left behind when her mother left when she was a child and her last boyfriend left with no thoughts of leaving her behind. She feared she was unlovable and knew he would break her heart when he left.
This was a heartwarming small-town romance with all the feel-goods. Ava and Alex were the perfect couple and I enjoyed reading their book. I had no problem reading this book as a stand-alone but after meeting all the side characters I cannot wait to read their stories.
