Fearless by Kimberly Kincaid

Training a rookie firefighter so he can move up the ranks? No problem. Right up until the “new guy” turns out to be a woman who seems determined to wreck every shred of his composure…the hard way.

Firefighter Cole Everett eats, sleeps, and breathes the job. So, when his captain offers him a promotion to the coveted Fairview Rescue Squad, Cole can’t say “yes” fast enough at the chance to prove his skill and save lives. All he’s got to do is train the rookie who will replace him on engine.

Enter Savannah Nelson, a female firefighter who’s stubbornly determined to get the job done by jumping in with both boots first. Her headstrong ways get her in hot water with the squad lieutenant—a.k.a. Cole’s potential new boss. Her dedication? Turns Cole on even more than her curves.

Firefighting is in Savannah’s blood, and she’s not going to let the fact that she’s Station Eight’s first female rookie keep her from fulfilling her family legacy. Keeping her mind on the job instead of her sexy, serious mentor isn’t always easy, but she won’t give up—not even when the house’s most seasoned lieutenant seems bent on trashing her reputation.

To stop a string of possible arsons, Savannah and Cole will need to eliminate every distraction. But the temperature’s rising. Can they stand the heat between them before someone gets burned?

My review:

Fearless is the sixth book in the Pine Mountain series and it is now my favorite in the series.  I loved Cole and Savannah and the chemistry between them was off the charts. This book had so many twists and turns in it.  The ending was unpredictable, and I have to say the “villain” in the book was someone I really liked in the previous books.  I am so sad about this particular character turning out to be the bad guy because I was really hoping for them to have their own story.  You will need to read the book yourself to find out who the arsonist is!  I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next book in the series!

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sizzle by Kimberly Kincaid

Sizzle by Kimberly Kincaid is now live!

Sam Faurier is in deep trouble.

Which normally wouldn't be a problem for an elite firefighter with razor-sharp instincts and cocky bravado to spare. Except this time, his impulsive decision on a call got fellow firefighter, Lucy de Costa, into hot water, too.

Did he mention that he's had an unrequited crush on her for years? Or that she's the battalion chief's by-the-book daughter?

Or that the call that got them both benched was actually arson, only Sam can't prove it without help?

Lucy de Costa doesn't break the rules, and she sure as hell doesn't catch feelings for other firefighters. She's worked way too hard to make her way up the ranks for that, no matter how sexy Sam Faurier's smile is--or how hot his determination.

He's convinced there's an arsonist on the loose. Trouble is, she's the only one who believes him. And she's going to have to throw protocol and caution out the window in order to help him prove it.

Even if she finds herself unable to resist him--and how much he wants her--in the process.

But the more they uncover, the deeper the danger becomes. To catch the arsonist, Sam and Lucy will have to rely on their wits, their training, and each other.

Before it's too late.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

My review:

“I would put myself in harm’s way a thousand times to get you out of it just once.  No matter what happens, Lucy, I’m always going to have your back.”

Sizzle is the first book in the Remington Rescue Squad, and it sets the bar high for the series.  The intrigue had me hooked from the beginning and I could not put the book down.  The pacing and the balance between suspense and romance were perfect.  The characters were genuine with realistic challenges to overcome.  Their connection was instantaneous and there were definitely some sparks flying around in Station Seventeen.

Lucy de Costa learned her lesson about dating other firefighters and stuck to her rule of not dating them.  She was not a rule breaker; but she couldn’t let Sam rush into a burning warehouse by himself.  Even if it meant throwing caution into the air and going against a direct order.  Something about that fire made her question how it started, resulting in her and Sam searching for answers.  But as they work together to catch the arsonist, Lucy finds herself breaking her own rules.

“She hadn't just broken the rules for him. She's shattered them."

Sam Faurier was an adrenaline junkie and impulsive, but he always followed his gut.  He knows he saw someone in the burning warehouse and something about that fire was off.  He was determined to find answers.

This was a great book to start the series off with.  It was full of suspense that kept me hooked on reading.  I loved revisiting with some of the other Remington first responders from other series.  I highly recommend reading it and cannot wait for the next book in the series.

The Agent by Kimberly Kincaid

The Agent by Kimberly Kincaid is now live!

His enemy's little sister is the only person with the power to undo him.

Nothing rattles stone-cold FBI Agent Kai Roman. Not chasing down ruthless criminals. Not losing his wife years ago. Not even inadvertently being caught in the middle of a bank robbery.
Except Camila Garza is right beside him when danger strikes, and suddenly he's the only person who can protect the off-limits beauty. No matter how much her older brother hates him.
And no matter how much he secretly wants her.

Camila knows she should hate Roman. He's made it clear he doesn't like her—or possibly anyone—one bit. But when they have to go on the run to save their lives, she begins to see past his icy exterior to the man who would do anything to keep her safe.
Including risk it all.
****

The Agent is the sixth and last standalone in the Intelligence Unit series, set in the shared world of Remington. Full of edge-of-your-seat action and scorching romance, this adversary's little sister, grumpy hero, lovers on the run from danger romance will have you swooning and sweating. No cheating, no cliffhangers, all hard-fought HEA.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

My review:

The Agent is the sixth book in the Intelligence Unit series. There is a prequel, Flirting with Danger (book #5.5) which gave us a better background of the history between Kai and Camila. But I don’t feel like the prequel is necessary to read. I was so excited to read the book after getting a small taste of it with the prequel and I was not disappointed! It was fast-paced with plenty of twists and turns. The suspense caught me at the beginning and kept me reading until the end. I didn’t expect it, but I really enjoyed how the author gave us the villain’s POV along with the main characters. It helped build the suspense and gave the story more depth. FBI agent Kai Roman didn’t do emotions or relationships after his wife died. He wasn’t sure why he flirted with Camila, his enemy’s sister, the night he met her, but he knew he had to maintain his distance from the first woman who had tempted him in years. They avoided each other after Kai left her so abruptly that night. After being held up in a bank robbery, they must work together to stay safe. Will Kai risk it all or let his fears overcome him? I highly recommend the series and hope to see the Intelligence Unit again. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
