My review:

She Was Mine First was a beautiful and heartbreaking story of two childhood best friends falling in love with each other as teenagers but life separated them. They manage to stay best friends and years later find their way back to love again. It was full of emotions, and I really enjoyed it. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down.
Rosie and Ethan became best friends as kids and their strong connection survived all the hurdles that life threw at them. Asking Ethan to be her man of honor was a given to Rosie. She thought she had let go of her love for Ethan years ago but days before her wedding she started to have doubts.
Ethan always loved Rosie, but he let time get away from him. Just as he is ready to claim her again, he discovers she has moved on to another man. It will break his heart to see her marry someone else, but he won’t let Rosie down on her wedding day.

BEST FRIEND TEMPTATION
by Carrie Ann Ryan
My Rating : ⭐⭐

“I miss all the good things. We were getting naked and no one told me?”
I glared at Ford. “Don’t start.”
“What? Sounds kind of fun. I mean, you’re both hot, so if it was going to happen, might as well happen when I’m home.”
“You’re a menace,” Greer said, thankfully laughing.
“I’m just sad that I didn’t get to see you naked first.” Ford kept teasing, pushing, and I needed him to stop.
Because I didn’t need to think about this any longer.
“Okay, now that you’re making me laugh rather than feel embarrassed, I guess I’m grateful that we got that out of the way.”
I blinked over at her. “What do you mean ‘got that out of the way?’”
“I saw the way you looked at me, it’s good to know.”
Audio Read By Jacob Morgan, Teddy Hamilton, and Desiree Ketchum
I fell for my best friend long before I knew what that meant. Only I know he’ll never love me back.
He’s stuck in his head and his past demons and can’t see what is right in front of him.
But when Greer loses her home and needs a place to stay, both Noah and I know the only place she belongs is with us—in every way possible.
Now I’m falling for both of my roommates and trying to keep the people I protect safe.
Only someone is coming for them, and I can’t stop the inevitable fall.
I just have to hope that we made the right choices and that one day soon Noah and Greer will finally see who we can be.
Before we lose it all…or I finally walk away for good.

My review:
Best Friend Temptation is the fourth book in the Montgomery Ink series, and I just cannot get enough of the Montgomery family. I love books with large families and this one book has the Montgomery, Cassidy, and the Cages family in it. This is Noah Montgomery, Ford Cage, and Greer Cassidy story.
Ford and Noah had been childhood best friends, roommates, and business partners for years. Somewhere along the way they fell in love with each other, but their relationship was full of doubts and communication problems. They were both attracted to Greer, but neither would act on it because their past triad relationship didn’t work out.
Greer had a crush on Ford and Noah since she met them, but she thought they were interested in each other. She didn’t want to get between them and didn’t think they could be interested in her until her house caught on fire and she moved in with them. Proximity brings them together, but their doubts and problems could break them apart.
I couldn’t wait for this book to come out and it was everything I expected. The connection between the three of them was so strong but they each had doubts about their place in the relationship and fears of being in each other’s way. They had to learn to trust each other and communicate before their relationship could work. I loved watching their bonds strengthen as they slowly opened up to one another. I highly recommend this book and hope to see the Cages and Cassidy family again.

Watch Your Mouth by Kandi Steiner

Watch Your Mouth by Kandi Steiner is now live!

My brother’s teammates know not to touch me—but that doesn’t stop me from daring Jaxson Brittain to be the first to break the rule.

After one steamy night in Austin, I’m all too aware of the hot, broody defenseman with icy blue eyes and ink sprawling his muscular arms. He was the one my brother assigned to keep me safe—and I had far too much fun tempting him to be the one to put me in danger.

It was just one night of tip-toeing the line, of teasing and flirting and messing around knowing nothing would ever come of it.

But when the universe throws me back into his lap two weeks later and we end up on a secret road trip together, all bets are off.

I can’t help but touch him. I can’t help but pray for him to touch me. And I can’t resist the temptation to test him at every turn.

Jaxson is smart and doesn’t have a death wish. So, like a gentleman, he keeps his hands to himself… the jerk.

But the closer we get on the road and the farther we get from reality, the less those warning signs from my brother seem to deter him.

When we started this road trip, we set a boundary. We promised to keep all arms and legs safely in the friend zone.

Now, miles and miles away from all the reasons we shouldn’t, all I can hear is my heart thumping out the resounding reason we should.

And the way those heated blue eyes watch me, I know I’m not the only one.

My review:

3.5 Stars rounded up to 4 Stars
Watch Your Mouth is the second book in the Kings of the Ice series.  The first book in the series, Meet Your Match, was the first book I read by the author, and I loved it.   We met Jaxson Brittain and Grace Tanev there and I couldn’t wait to read their story.
Grace was forbidden.  Not only was she younger than Jaxson, but she was Vince’s, his best friend and teammate, sister.  But when she shows up at Vince’s house broken-hearted after she broke up with her boyfriend, Jaxson finds himself wanting to cheer her up. He tried to stay away from her, but all that did was make them both miserable.
Grace lived in her brother’s shadow, but she was ready to break free and follow her dreams of traveling the world. Falling for her brother’s best friend and teammate was not part of her plan.  Can she follow her dreams and still have a relationship with Jaxson?
This was a good book, but the first book is my favorite of the two. I like the good brother’s best friend troupe, but I didn’t feel any “wow” factor with this book.  There was nothing memorable and the pacing was too slow.  So, I had a hard time staying focused enough to finish the book. I enjoyed meeting the Ospreys hockey team but I’m not sure if I want to continue with the series.

Meet Kandi

Kandi Steiner is an Amazon Top 5 bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.”

She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right). She enjoys live music, traveling, playing with her fur babies and soaking up the sweetness of life.

 Blurb:

Waking up with a wife is not how black ops soldier Zane “Zany” Scott pictured his first trip to Las Vegas ending. Forever isn’t in his vocabulary anymore. So why did he marry a woman he just met?

Nerdy Eden Hall isn’t the kind of girl people notice. She’s always lived in her twin’s shadow, always been plain and sensible compared to her sister’s big personality. But when her sister gets engaged to the man Eden secretly loves, it’s inevitable she’ll drink too much at the bachelorette party.

It’s not inevitable that she’ll impulsively marry the hottest guy she’s ever laid eyes on, though. Of course they’re going to divorce, but it takes more time to do that than it did to get married. Time in which they’ll discover they’ve got more in common than simply burning up the sheets together.

Just when they think they might have something worth keeping, it all goes wrong and Eden becomes the target of a killer. Zane will have to risk everything to save his wife. Because if he doesn’t, he could lose the woman who, against all odds, kickstarted his heart into beating again.

My review:

HOT Honor is the eighth book in the Hostile Operations Team: Strike Team 2.  Each book can be read as a standalone and the characters from other series cross over a lot, which I love.

Zane “Zany” Scott is the last single man on his team, and he plans on keeping it that way after he was burned by his girlfriend in high school. He quit doing relationships after she cheated on him and married someone else.  But a trip to Las Vegas for his sister’s birthday ends with him waking up married to a stranger.  Now he cannot get her out of his mind and when her life is at risk, he finds himself jumping in to save her.

Eden Hall was shy and always felt plain compared to her twin sister, Abby.  Everyone loved Abby, even the man Eden had fallen in love with.  After a few too many drinks, Eden sheds her inhibitions and finds herself married the next morning to the handsome man who had saved her the night before.  Can their hasty marriage lead to something good?

This was such a great book and I loved watching Eden slowly gain self-confidence.  Zane was so sweet and couldn’t understand why Eden couldn’t see herself like he did.  They were perfect for each other.  Although they each had their own baggage, together they were able to overcome them.  I loved seeing all the team members again and cannot wait to see what the author has in store for us next.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Trust is like car keys: easy to lose and hard to get anywhere without it…

Evan only intended to strike up a casual conversation with the stunning blonde with Goldie Hawn looks–now he finds himself trying to cross paths with her on campus every chance he gets. But his water polo teammate appears to have damaged his chances with Farrah before he could even ask her out.

Farrah’s been out with players from the water polo team before–and it’s always ended in tears. The handsome medical student who wants to help her get revenge says he’s not like them…but there’s only one way to know for sure.

Will a trip to his hometown seal the deal or prove this player’s all washed up?

EXCERPT:

Who is that?” Cat asked, peering out the front window as she pinned the foil in Mrs. Bergstein’s hair. “And what do I have to do to get my fingers in that hair?”

“I love his cut,” Daisy said. “Don’t you just love it? I wonder who did it.”

“Forget his cut. Look at his jaw. And those arms. I bet those could keep me warm all night.”

Farrah smiled to herself as she swept her area, but said nothing. He’d put some kind of product in it that was making it look even more tousled than she’d intended, and it was definitely working for him. She’d have to find out what he’d used. Farrah glanced at the clock: it was 3:55. She took off her apron and washed her hands in the sink; they were feeling rough. She really needed to invest in some gloves or something if she was going to be holding hands with this guy more in the near future…and it seemed like a real possibility. More nerves bubbled in her stomach as she checked herself in the mirror, fluffing her hair.

“I’m off. See you all Monday.”

“Wait,” Cat said, “is that…are you…that stud muffin is yours?” she called after her as the door swung shut. “Farrah!”

“Hi,” she greeted Evan shyly, and he grinned.

“I think your boss was trying to get your attention…”

Farrah waved a hand. “She’s fine. They’ll just hound me for details on Monday, anyway, and I’ll have more to tell them then.” She leaned forward, hesitated, then gave him a peck on the cheek, if only to stake her claim with the other stylists. Mine. And yes, I gave him a bodacious haircut. His sunglasses reflected her smile back.

“In that case, ready to go? Turns out the shop is just down the street.”

“Sure!” He held out his arm, and she took it gladly as they started off. They walked in pleasant silence for a few minutes until Evan dropped her arm and turned to her.

“Okay, I can’t take it anymore. Was it Hairway to Heaven?”

Farrah blinked. “What?”

“Your name! The better name for the salon! Was it Hairway to Heaven? Or maybe Whole Lotta Styling Going On?”

She snickered. “What? No!”

“The Braidy Bunch?”

Farrah rolled her eyes and resumed walking. “That is the worst pun I’ve ever heard.”

“Oh, I’ve got lots more. Vanity Hair? Blown Away? Ahead of Hair Time?”

“Stop,” Farrah giggled, but she grabbed his arm and pulled him close, matching his long strides. But the man just kept going.

“A Cut Above. Fringe Benefits. Thy Kingdom Comb.”

The giggles were now uncontrollable, and she felt tears of laughter at the corners of her eyes.

“Curl up ‘n Dye! Mane Attraction! A Cut Above!”

“You already did that one,” Farrah wheezed, holding her stomach, barely able to get the words out for laughing so hard.

“Well, I can’t help it! I have to know! Please, please put me out of my misery and—”

“All right, all right,” she said, wiping the tears from her face, aware that her mascara was now running. “My goodness. It’s…” She’d never told anyone her plans for the salon, not even her mom, and she told her pretty much everything. But Evan wasn’t going to judge her, she didn’t think. And hopefully, he’d be kind if he didn’t like it.

“It’s Shear Brilliance,” she said, just as they came to a stop outside a bridal shop.

Evan stared at her for a long moment, blinking slowly, then finally said, “That is genius.”

“You really like it?”

“No, I adore it. It’s perfect. Far better than what I came up with. You’ve got a flair for this, Farrah. And it’s going to look great printed on your business cards when you give Harry a stack for his friends.”

Farrah rolled her eyes as she pulled open the front door. “You never stop, do you?”

Evan grinned. “You should see me in the off-season when I don’t have water polo to tire me out. I’m like a human pinball machine.”
