My review:
I don’t know how Ms. Burgoa does it but every book keeps improving. At first, I wasn’t sure about the duets for the Decker family because I’m not big on reading books with cliffhangers. But I have been blown away by them and binge-reading them more than once because I can’t seem to get enough of the Deckers.
After the Vows is the first book in the Covert Affairs Duet, part of A Decker Family series. This is Seth Bradley and Theodore (Teddy) St. James’ story. Seth is the son of Ainsley Decker and Mason Bradley from Suddenly Broken and Suddenly Us in the Unexpected Everlasting Duet. I highly recommend you read the duets in the reading order the author has provided.
Teddy realizes her relationship with Seth is toxic and she is trying to move on with her life. Discovering her brother Archer had pulled a prank on them and they were actually married ten years previously is unbelievable. But when her life is in danger, she trusts Seth to keep her alive while they are on the run.
After losing Archer, his best friend, on a mission, Seth is weighed down by his guilt for surviving. He lost faith in himself and feared he can never fill his dad’s role in The Organization. He tries to stay away and fight his feelings for Teddy, but she is his weakness. And his enemies know this. The Organization's plans for flushing out the enemy were solid, but they never accounted for losing contact with Seth and Teddy after they are ambushed.
This duet has more intrigue and action than the previous duets, so this cliffhanger is brutal. The end of this book came too fast and now I must patiently wait for the second book in the duet.
