Release Date: October 4
USA TODAY Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa brings us a brand new hockey romance about missed opportunities, accidental weddings, and found family.
What happens in Vegas might go viral!
The first time I met Caspian Spearman, we had the perfect night.
The second time, I was on the arm of his biggest rival.
The third night… was a string of mistakes.
Don’t believe me?
Let’s do a play-by-play—or mistake by mistake.
1. I surprised my boyfriend in Vegas.
2. I didn’t kill him when I caught him sleeping with his best friend.
3. I went to the bar where I bumped into Cas.
4. We had a few tequila shots for old times' sake.
5. Like the last time, we ended up in bed…but it doesn’t end there.
According to the internet I’m married to the hot, arrogant, womanizer captain of the Portland Orcas.
It’s all over social media—in case we need proof.
Even my mother watched the blissful event—kill me now.
He can’t afford the bad PR.
I can’t deal with Mom’s, I told you so.
So, we agree to stay married.
At least until the end of next season.
And in the meantime, we’ll enjoy our off-the-charts chemistry.
The benefits of being married, he says.
What can go wrong?
After all, it’s only sex.
BIG MISTAKE!
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My review:
Another Spearman tumbles into love. I have been patiently waiting (or trying to anyways) for Caspian Spearman’s story and boy did Ms. Burgoa deliver a winner! It was such a heartfelt story and Caspian’s sweetness shined throughout.
“My favorite night might become the best memory of my life”
Spending time working at the family’s winery in his off-season might have been the best thing to happen to Caspian. He met Rhys who didn’t recognize him, so he was able to be himself. But he had seen too many relationships go bad in his hockey career so he thought a future with her would be impossible. He regretted letting her go without getting her contact information for several years therefore when he saw her again, he wasn’t going to give up the chance of a relationship with her again.
“…I made a mistake and missed my chance to be with who I think could’ve been my soul mate.”
After graduating from vet school, Rhys takes a weekend trip to visit wineries with her friend. For years, her mother warned her about men, and she was too busy in veterinarian school to date anyways so allowing herself to indulge in one night with a stranger who she would never see again made sense. After she finds her boyfriend sleeping with his best friend in Vegas, she runs into Caspian and finds herself married the next morning. They agree to remain married for a while to avoid bad PR and her mother’s lecture. Can they turn their fake marriage into something real?
The connection between Caspian and Rhys was instantaneously and their chemistry was off the charts. They might have agreed to stay in their fake marriage but they both wanted it to be real. I loved Caspian’s sweet character and how he was willing to fight to win Rhys over. I hated to see Rhys give into the fear from her mom’s lectures, she was so scared of getting hurt that she ran when things became complicated. This was such a great book, and it is now one of my favorites in the series. I highly recommend it and can’t wait for the next Spearman brothers book.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
