My review:

Contender is part of K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World series and was a great addition to it.  The series is a collection of books by different authors who write about characters in the world that was created by K. Bromberg.  This book was a little bit longer than what I would consider a novella, but it was still a quick book to read and quite easy to read in one sitting.  I always enjoy seeing characters from the other books play a part in the main character’s lives.  It’s so easy to fall in love with those characters and getting a chance to revisit with them is always exciting. 

Officer Collins Sutton moved back to her childhood town of Sunnyville when her mother passed away to take care of her father and Sam, her special-needs brother.  She is surprised and suspicious when her brother comes home and tells them he has made a new friend at the new gym.  Collins is very protective of her brother and is afraid Keegan is taking advantage of Sam.  She slowly comes to understand that Keegan has no ulterior motives.

Keegan “The Punisher” Ranger’s life was headed the wrong way as a teenager until Lou comes into his life.  Now a professional boxer he has moved to Sunnyville after Lou passes away trying to start a new life.  He likes the small town and wants to return Lou’s generosity by helping others as Lou helped him. 

This was a wonderful book that leaves you smiling at the end.  The characters are genuine, and I loved seeing all the Sunnyville characters again.  This was a great addition to the Everyday Heroes Worlds.

Meet Anna

My Review:

The Fiance is the fourth book in the Close Quarters Series but I read it as a stand-alone and felt like I did not miss anything.  It was a short book so was easy to read in one sitting.  The storyline of a fake engagement was developed, and the characters were charming and interesting. 

Ava Matthews was a teacher who was struggling to find a permanent teaching position.  She was barely getting by with substitute teaching and working as a waitress for a catering company.   Ending up in a supply closet with Daniel Moretti was just the frosting on the cake to her day.  When he suggests that she become his fake fiancé, she figures it would keep her mom from harassing her to marry her friend’s son and help her get back on her feet.

Daniel Moretti was CEO of the family’s business and rumors of him stealing his brother’s wife were going to hurt their company.  Being found in the supply closet with a woman from the catering staff would hurt even more.  So, he hopes telling the media they are engaged will help the rumors and improve his image.  He is not looking for a relationship and doesn’t believe in love after watching his parent’s marriage while growing up.  But can he remain unaffected by Ava and her charm?

The book was fast-paced, beautifully written, and funny.  Ava was so genuine and cheerful it was hard not to cheer for her to get her happy ever after.  Daniel had closed himself off to relationships because he didn’t want to risk getting hurt as his mother did, but Ava slowly chipped away at his barriers.  I enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to future books from the author.

My review:

Ashes is part of the Everyday Heroes World collection and was the first I have read in the series and by this author.  I was blown away by how good this book was!  There were plenty of twists, intrigue, emotions, and danger to keep you hooked until the end.  The chemistry between the two main characters was strong, but neither of them wanted to be in a relationship.  Carter’s grandmother helped them with a few helpful pushes.

Fighting fires was Carter Collins calling in life.  He was dedicated to saving lives and thought he had found the right woman for him only to be devastated by betrayal.  Now he’s happy with only his brothers from the fire department and his grandmother in his life.

Natalie Vasquez moved from San Francisco to Sunnyville to start over in a new place.  Her job at the hospital as an ER nurse was going well and she was making new friends when a fire destroys her apartment.  She keeps running into the unfriendly, handsome firefighter who rescued her and is her new neighbor. 

This was a great book and I really enjoyed getting to know Carter and the sassy Natalie.  They were both tortured by their past and needed a happy ever after.

DC Renee is a contemporary romance fiction author who tends to write standalone novels that always shock you with a twist. She's been writing all her life.
