A Heart Series Spin-Off Novella
The Red Zone (Summerville Sports #1) by Amie Knight

The Blurb:
They say the red zone is the hardest place to score.
But for me, those last twenty yards were my sweet spot.
They didn't call me Lukas "Last Minute Lucy" Callihan for nothing.
I was at the top of my game...until life sacked me harder than any linebacker ever could.
Losing my mom was devastating and left me as the sole person responsible for my little sister.
Taking care of Ella and juggling my career was like playing the hardest game of my life.
My only saving grace was Scarlett Knox, Ella's sexy, red-headed, no-nonsense teacher.
She loved Ella. She hated me.
She thought I sucked at this parenting thing, and she wasn’t wrong.
But whenever she was around I got the same earth-shattering, heart-stopping feeling I did when I was only twenty yards from the goal line.
She made me feel like I was back in the red zone, a place I’d never fumbled.
Until now.
My review:
The Red Zone is the first book in the Summerville Sports series by Amie Knight. I recently discovered this author and once I started reading this book, I become a big fan. It was fast-paced, had wonderful characters, and was well written. It drew me in from the beginning and I could not put the book down until I finished. It was a heartbreaking story but left me smiling in the end.
Lukas had a heart of gold and was such a wonderful guy. My heart broke because he had such doubts about his capabilities of raising his special-needs sister. He was so understanding and patient with Ella and his love for her was undoubted. Scarlett's genuine care for her students touched my heart.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I borrowed this book from Kindle and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Final Play isn’t always the end.
Sometimes, it’s the beginning of something far more beautiful.
The Final Play, an all-new steamy and emotional sports romance from Amie Knight is available now!
As a professional linebacker, I lived and breathed football.
The only thing I loved as much as the game was my twin brother, Max, who kept me almost as busy cleaning up his messes.
The most recent of which landed him behind bars.
So, it shouldn’t have surprised me when a beautiful woman showed up on my doorstep, claiming to be pregnant with Max’s baby.
Glory was unexpected, infuriating, and flat-out crazy most of the time.
But no matter how hard I tried to deny it, that tiny spitfire slammed into my boring life with the strength of a Category 5 hurricane, blowing through my defenses until she’d carved her name in my heart—permanently.
I feared we would never work. She was a single mom, my brother’s ex, and one more chance for me to fail yet another person I loved.
But if football was my church, then Glory was my heaven.
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My review:
The Final Play is the third book in the Summerville Sports series by Amie Knight. I just recently discovered this author, but she has definitely been added to my favorite author list. Her books are heartbreaking, full of humor, and have such amazing characters. We met Mason in the first book, The Red Zone when he befriends Lukas and his sister Ella. He played a large part in helping Lukas adjust and become accepted by the Alabama Cougar team. I was so excited to read his story and get to know him better.
Mason and his twin brother Max lost their parents in a fatal car accident at the age of twelve. Mason handled the loss by focusing on football and became a successful NFL player. Max and Mason's relationship suffered due to all the trouble Max got into and finally Mason shows some tough love by letting Max face the consequences for his actions. Mason was shocked and his world was turned upside down when Glory landed on his doorstep claiming to be pregnant with Max’s baby.
Glory searched for Max to tell him about the baby but finally gave up and went to Mason for help. Discovering Max was in jail was just another instance of her bad luck. Falling for her baby daddy’s brother was not part of her plan and complicated things. Could her luck be changing?
This was an emotional and heartbreaking story. Mason was heartbroken and hated to see Max go to jail but finally realized he had to stop bailing him out of trouble for Max to straighten up. I was happy seeing Max had gotten himself together in the end and I hope to see him get his own story and find happiness. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to future books by this author.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
