My Scorned Best Friend is the fourth book in The Greene Family series. I have fallen in love with the small town of Sunrise Bay, Alaska, and all the quirky characters in the series. All the books in the series can be read as stand-alone but why not start at the beginning when you know you will want to read them all anyway? The Greene family is large, boisterous, unique, and you cannot help but love them. This is Xavier and Clara’s story, whom we met in previous books.  Theirs’s a best friend to lovers’ story that includes a few meddling grandmothers and witty commentary from the Scandals of Sunrise Bay show.  Expect to laugh, cry, and smile while you read this book.

My mom always said you don't get a second shot at making a first impression. I've remembered that my entire career. Especially since I'm one of the few black men who play professional hockey.

I'm calculated and respectful in the way I speak to my coaches, the owners, and the media. I've never taken a risk... until her.

I could blame it on the fact that for once I pushed away the pressure of my career for the ocean waves, the sand, and good times with my new teammates. But those are excuses because the minute I saw her at the airport, something lit up inside me and the best week of my life was spent with her in my bed.

After our week in paradise, we said goodbye, exchanged phone numbers and both assumed that unless one of us was flying through the other's city on the opposite side of the country, our vacation fling was over.

Then one night after practice I see her. She's here. In my city. Telling me she moved here for a job. If that's not fate tell me what is.

I've never wanted a second shot more than I do this time, but she's determined to leave what we were on the island we left behind.

Rounded to 3.5 Stars.

Second Shot with #76 is the fifth book in the Hockey Hotties series.  This series is steamy and full of hot hockey players that are falling into coupledom.  The books can be read as stand-alones but they are better if read in order.  I was looking forward to this book, but I must admit it is not my favorite one of the series.  I didn’t feel as connected to the main characters as I did in the previous ones and the storyline had some twists that I did not like.  I loved the second chance Corey and Ande got when they found each other again after their vacation fling.  They had a strong connection between them, but I didn’t like the villain that was part of the twist or who she was.  I also don’t feel like Corey and Ande’s issue really got resolved, it just got pushed to the side.  Overall, I love the series and was happy to see all the players and their families again.  The connection between the team is strong and they have formed their own little family, so I hope the next book doesn’t ruin that.  I am looking forward to Kane’s book and seeing how his new job works out.

Sneaking Around with #34 is the fourth book in the Hockey Hotties by Piper Rayne.  This was a second chance romance that will capture your attention from the beginning.  It was a beautiful story that will touch your heart.  The main characters were lovable and getting to revisit with the team again was wonderful.  I love the camaraderie between the players and their families.  This was Imogen (Ford’s sister) and Warren’s story, and they were such a great couple.  I loved watching them get a second chance together.  If you like hockey romances, this is a must-read! It is full of humor, snarky friends, and wonderful characters.

My Sister’s Flirty Friend is the fourth book in The Greene Family series.  I have fallen in love with the small town of Sunrise Bay, Alaska, and all the quirky characters in the series.  All the books in the series can be read as stand-alone but why not start at the beginning when you know you will want to read them all anyway?  The Green family is large, boisterous, and unique.  You cannot help but love them.  This is Jed and Molly’s story, and it picks up where the story ends in My Vegas Groom.  

When Jed Greene discovers he is Emilia’s father, a three-year-old, his life is turned upside down.  He does not know how to be a father or how to connect with Emilia who has lost her mother.  Molly has been part of the Greene family forever and Jed knows having a fling with her is a bad idea, but he can’t resist the temptation.  Molly has fought her attraction to Jed forever and knows becoming involved with him will leave her broken-hearted.  She has her own issues but still is there to support Jed as he adjusts to life as a father.  I love how supportive she is, and her soft side comes out as she is working with Emilia.

This was a wonderful book, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.  The last scene leads us into Frasier’s story, and it will be interesting.

My review:

Faking It With #41 is the third book in the new Hockey Hotties series.  It can be read as a stand-alone but fair warning after you start reading it you will want to start at the beginning of the series and read them all!  It was fast-paced, easy-to-read, and full of humor.  I have been waiting for Ford’s book and was so excited to read it.  It was just as amazing as I thought it would be.  The sizzle between Ford and Lena could be felt from the beginning when we saw them in previous books. 

Ford Jacob was the heir to Jacobs Enterprises and was a professional hockey player.  He had no intentions of leaving hockey and taking over the family’s business.  His father finally realizes it and decides to sell the majority of the shares and retire.  But to do so he will need Ford to improve his reputation.

Lena Boyd was the Jacob family PR and had bailed Ford out of bad publicity too many times.  Now she agrees to play the part of his fiancé and marry him, but she has no intentions of getting pulled in by his good looks and charisma.  Can she believe he has changed his ways after becoming a single dad?

I loved this book.  It was entertaining and I loved how Ford grew from the carefree man into a family man.  Seeing how concerned and caring he was for his little girl was so sweet.  I can’t wait for the next book.
