I’m her brother's best friend, and for the past ten years, I've also been Addison McKenzie’s dirty little secret.

My pro-hockey player lifestyle kept me from her, but I thought we had a good thing going. Burning up the sheets whenever I visited home worked well for us.

Or so I thought.

When a season-ending injury sends me back to Starlight Cove, I find out she thinks of me as nothing more than a mistake.

She’s trying her hardest to ignore my presence, but being snowed in together is making that difficult.

So is sharing a bed.

Old habits die hard, and it’s no surprise we fall right back into each other. Undeniable chemistry was never our problem, though. Making it last in the real world was.

But I’ve been in love with Addison for years. And I have no intention of giving up on us now.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

My review:

“I have a wife.  I’m just not married.  If I had my way, I’d already have Addison McKenzie’s Husband plastered on the back of my jerseys.”

WOW!  This book was a reminder of why I fell in love with the series.  It’s always hard to choose a favorite book in a series but I think this book has become my new favorite.  The sparks were flying between Addison (Addie) and Chase from the beginning!  They had such over-the-top chemistry between them, and I was hooked until the last word (and wanted more).  I loved all the witty text messages between the family and of course Mabel, Starlight Coves very own gossipmonger.

Pro hockey player Chase Lockhart returns home to Starlight Cove to recuperate after an injury and reconnect with the woman he has always loved.  He and Addie have hidden their relationship for years, but he is tired of hiding it.  With his hockey career up in the air, he has several life-changing decisions to make.

Being the youngest of six children and the only girl meant Addie had to learn how to stand up for herself at an early age.  She loves her family’s resort and has worked hard to bring it back to life.  She doesn’t see how Chase and she could have a future when they lived so far apart.

“First of all, it doesn’t matter if I’m in Starlight Cove or Santorini. Hell, I could be on fucking Mars. Because in every city, in every state, in every country…in every fucking galaxy, I’m yours, firefly. I’ve been yours. I’ll always be yours. And no amount of distance will change that.”

I simply adored Chase; he was so ooey-gooey sweet.  It was so sweet how he had the date he “became hers” tattooed on his palm.  Even though she was avoiding him, he still texted her daily and he never gave up on her.  Allie was a spitfire and full of sass.  She certainly kept everyone on their toes.

This book was awesome and I loved every minute of it.  There is only one single McKenzie left and it sounds like Levi’s book will be an entertaining one.  I cannot wait for it, although I will be sad to see the series end.  I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves small-town romances and large-family drama.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Meet Brighton Walsh:

Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love—writing. She likes her books how she likes her tea—steamy and satisfying—and adores strong-willed heroines and the protective heroes who fall head over heels for them. Brighton lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it’s mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible.
