Crawling back to this small town was never in hockey star Chase Woodson’s plans.
From hitting hockey pucks in front of thousands to selling urinal pucks at his father’s hardware store, coming back home is his worst nightmare.
But being a (newly) single dad of twin boys means making sacrifices. His boys need stability and his dad needs his help in the store.
Now he needs her.
Except, Chase has been the bane of Madison Kelly’s existence since high school.
She just so happens to be the only available nanny in town.
Besides, high school was ten years ago.
People don’t hold grudges that long, right?
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My review:
Back Against the Wall is the first book in the Lindell series. I have only read a few books by Marie James, and this book was definitely different. So, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was so excited because I love small-town romances and I totally fell in love with the small town of Lindell. The characters were genuine and so easy to love. There was plenty of tension between Chase and Madison and their chemistry was off the chart.
Chase never thought he would lose his hockey career and return to his hometown. He was being pulled in too many directions helping at his father’s hardware store and as a single father of twins. His father convinces him he needs help, unfortunately the only qualified nanny is Madison Kelly.
Madison Kelly returns to Lindell after her dreams came to an end in Austin. Now she is living with her parents and needs to find a job. Her mother volunteers her for the nanny position to two sweet boys who unfortunately are the son of her high school nemesis. Can they overcome their differences to help each other?
I loved watching Madison and Chase’s relationship slowly grow as they worked together. They both have gone through a lot and have a second chance at happiness if they can get over their rocky past. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next book.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

She has spent almost my entire lifetime living in central Texas, with only short stays in South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida. She is currently residing in a sleepy little town in East Tennessee.
Writing is her passion, and she absolutely loves being able to sit down and put all of her thoughts and emotions into her stories.
She loves dogs, coffee, making handmade cards, and reading steamy romance novels!
