I’m supposed to be running a horse rescue. Instead, I’ve got pigs and ducks and donkeys and a manager who sees the real me, who makes me wonder how much was fake. He's slowly piecing my heart back together. Only I can’t forget he was the one who shattered it in the first place.

Discovering her dad was paying Ansen to marry her on her wedding day, devastated Aggie.  She had been willing to give up all her dreams of going to college and leaving the Knight ranch for Ansen.  So, his betrayal not only hurt her but gave her the strength to leave the ranch and her father’s controlling ways.  Now she needs someone to help her with her horse rescue, AKA Horse Rescue, and he just so happens to need a job.

“I loved you then and was too scared to admit it.  But what I feel now blows what I felt then out of the water.”

Ansen was bitter after his family lost their ranch, so when Barns Knight offered him money to marry Aggie, he saw a way to buy back his family’s ranch.  He regretted the choices he made and losing Aggie.  Now ten years later, he has no job, no money, and no one will hire him.  The job offer from a horse rescue was his only option.

A Reckless Memory is the first book in the Oil Knights series. This was a new author for me, and I am so glad I got to start the series at the beginning.  This second-chance romance will have your emotions swinging.  The characters were genuine with real-life issues and regrets.  This was a beautiful story of heartbreak, second chances, rebuilding connections, and regret.  I highly recommend it and I look forward to future books by the author.

Meet Marie Johnston

Marie Johnston is a RITA® Finalist, and a best-selling and award-winning writer of paranormal and contemporary romance – and an avid reader of them both.

Several years ago, when kids started outnumbering adults in the house, Marie Johnston left her job as a public health microbiologist to stay at home.
