Blurb:
I found it (him) at the bookstore.
Love.
He was six foot four, lanky, blue-eyed.
Jacob Decker was goofy, handsome, and cheesy.
There’s no better way to describe him.
But what can I expect of an eighteen-year-old boy who’s lived under a rock all his life?
I’ll let you into a little secret.
I had no idea what to expect.
We were each other’s first everything.
But the fantasy lasted only a semester.
Soon I had to move away.
A few years later, he was a rockstar, and I was…
Grasping for a lifeline.
The problem with first loves is that they never leave you.
But they never come back, do they?
Almost Strangers is the first novel in the Somehow Everlasting duet, a Decker Family Novel. This book ends on a cliffhanger that'll change everything...
My review:
Almost
Strangers is the first book in the Somehow Everlasting Duet for the Decker
family and it does end with a cliffhanger.
I don’t usually read books that end with a cliffhanger but luckily, the
second book was published the same day so, no waiting months and wondering what
will happen. Part of the duet was
released in the book Uncharted but the author has rewritten it and added to it,
therefore it has more depth. This duet
is Jacob Decker and Pria Walker’s emotional journey to happiness, and you will
definitely need a box of tissues for this heartbreaking story.
“If only
you could understand that you mean more to me than words can speak, more than
the notes my guitar can express, and more than what the sun is to Earth… one
look was plenty to know that I liked you, a day is all it took to learn that I
wanted to know more. Now, I am sure
about us. I’m falling for you.”
Jacob and
Pria met in college and fell in love, but they knew their time together was
limited. Pria has lived a sheltered life
and with her sister’s health being so bad Pria’s life was complicated. Their family would be moving once her sister
got accepted into a new medical trial.
“Maybe
we’ll be carrying a piece of each other in our hearts that will keep us
together even when we’re far away from each other.”
Pria and Jacob’s
story was heartbreaking and once I got to the end, I immediately had to pick up
the second book, Strangers in Love, and start it. I absolutely adored this book and highly
recommend it.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
