One More Chance is the first novel in the Carson Brothers series. This dual point-of-view, small town story is a standalone romance.
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
My review:
One More Chance is the first book in the Carson Brothers' series. This author is pretty new to me, but I really enjoyed reading more of her work. It’s a small-town romance with lots of intrigues that will keep you reading until the end. It had all the small-town “good feels” in it. It was well written, the pacing was perfect, and the Carson brothers made interesting characters. This was an entertaining book full of twists and intrigue that will keep you on edge until the end.
Lucas Carson had deployed to Afghanistan several times with his best friend Aiden Hensley, Simone’s brother. Lucas and Simone had been in love and kept their relationship a secret from Aiden. War had left Lucas and Aiden mentally scarred and each battling their own PTSD. Lucas became a physical therapist and loved working with veterans. He and his brother wanted to purchase land and build on it to help veterans. But someone else wants the land more; enough to frame him with a crime he didn’t commit. One of the Carson siblings needs to marry fast to satisfy the landowners.
Simone had not returned home since her brother’s funeral after he committed suicide. After getting news her grandmother was injured, she rushes home to take care of her. In such a small town it is impossible to avoid Lucas and their past. She wants to get her online business going and Lucas needs to have a wife, so they join forces.
This is a heartbreaking story of Simone and Lucas’s second chance at love. They both are holding onto secrets and an enemy is targeting them. Will their second chance work out for them?
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
