Callaway Rice is on the run-from the press, from her bad reputation, and from her live as an internationally known limit-pushing pop star. She needs peace, and quiet, and the mountains of her small hometown. She does not need a quiet cowboy alternately judging her and making her wish she could turn his head.
Wyatt Saint wants the simple things: a wife, a family of his own, a peaceful existence. After stepping back from a successful cattle business to pursue these goals, he meets Callaway Rice-the most beautiful woman he's every seen, and the opposite of everything he says he wants.
But now she's staying in the cottage on his property. She's showing up at his place for breakfast every day. And for some reason, he's gravitating to her like she's the one he's been looking for all along.
My review:
Almost Perfect is the first book in the Back to Silver Ridge
series by Claire Cain. This was a
new-to-me author, but the book overview sounded interesting and it has a
gorgeous cover. I was not sure what to
expect but I was pleasantly surprised while reading the book. It was fast-paced, beautifully written, and
had a solid storyline. The characters
were likable, and I loved meeting the people of Silver Ridge.
Wyatt had recently hired managers to help with his
business. He wanted was ready to slow
down, find a wife, and have a family of his own. He wanted to find someone sweet and easy to
get along with. He definitely did not
want a relationship with a woman whose life was full of chaos.
Bad girl popstar Calla Rice was known as Miss Mayhem in the
music world. She had recently lost her
mother to a drug overdose and her last record had hit bottom. She needed time away from everyone to find
herself and her creative side again. She
escapes to the small town of Silver Ridge where she had lived until her teenage
years. She wanted to run away from her
bad-girl reputation but was not certain how to manage it.
This was a wonderful story and I loved watching Calla take
control of her life and find a way to balance her life and work. Wyatt was such a sweetie and had such a big
heart. It was an emotional slow-burning
romance that will touch your heart. I
enjoyed reading the book and I look forward to the next book in the series.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
