As the mechanic for Blackbridge Security, when I make a mistake things don’t work properly.
Correcting that mistake is the only way to get things operational.
I meet issues in my personal life with the same mindset.
How was I to know the woman I’ve been flirting with at the gym is the same woman I called a noise complaint on?
I got her kicked out of her condo.
My first response: Move in with me.
When she confessed to having three kids, it was too late to back down.
I thought keeping my hands off of her was going to be a problem, but the tiny terrors she brought along with her are extremely effective at solving that problem for me.
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My review:
Controlled Burn is the eighth book in the Blackbridge Security series by Marie James. Even though the books can be read as stand-alone, I cannot seem to get enough of these alpha heroes and have had to read them all. The books are full of witty humor, intrigue, and dedicated men. The book was fast-paced, full of twists and turns, and grabbed my attention from the beginning.
Kendall is a single mother of three who has rotten luck. She is forced to move in with her stepbrother while she tries to save her money to buy a house. She meets Finnegan in the gym when she moves in, and their flirty encounters start her day off nicely. After receiving notice of eviction her brother leaves her stranded with nowhere to go. Furious with Finnegan for causing all the trouble she hunts him down at work and the fun begins.
Finnegan didn’t know that complaining about loud neighbors would turn his life upside down. He had no idea the cute blond he had been flirting with lived next door and her three young children were the ones causing all the noise. Without thinking, he offered to let them stay with him which shook up his days in a way he had never dreamed of. When Kendall and her kids are threatened, Finnegan will do what is needed to keep them safe. Can he convince Kendall he is all in?
This was another wonderful book to add to the series. I have loved meeting all the Blackbridge men and watching them meet their match with independent and bold women. And I can’t forget to mention how adorable and funny Puff Daddy and Evie are. The end of the book leads us into the next one which sounds like it will be fantastic. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I'm inching up on the BIG 4-0. The gray hairs are doubling what seems like daily, and the wrinkles and laugh lines are more pronounced than ever.
I have an amazing husband (Married just over 15 years.)
We have two boys we're doing our best to raise as respectful gentleman.
I have a master's degree in criminal justice which I used to work as a juvenile probation office until deciding to write full-time in June of 2019. So that means there's usually always some criminal/law element to my novels.
If I'm not writing; I'm reading.
My favorite genres recently are bully/reverse harem and enemies to lovers. Maybe I'm reliving my traumatic teen years through the girls who actually end up with the boys. (Not that I would change my history since it's gotten me exactly where I need to be!)
I love coffee. I miss carbs. Music is LIFE. I try not to be too serious.
