Everyone in Pine Harbour loves Will Kincaid—except the one person he cares about actually impressing. Can grown men have crushes on their frenemies? When Catie joins the small town’s Search and Rescue team, Will finds himself spending every Thursday night swapping glares with the hairdresser while they get in each other’s way.
Catie Berton has a long list of reasons why Will is an arrogant jerk. But the more time she spends with him, the more she’s forced to admit sometimes they make a good team. That doesn’t change the fact that Will has always been her right crush, wrong guy.
When the SRT goes on a road trip to a competition, she surprises herself by agreeing to ride shotgun in his truck. The long drive could be a chance to repair a shredded friendship, if Catie can get past her complicated feelings for the too-attractive-for-his-own-good school principal.
Because Catie knows all too well how cold a small town can be to an outsider who wants too much happiness from one of their own.
Wild at Heart is the third book in the Kincaids of Pine
Harbour series by Zoe York, whose work I have recently discovered. I read it as a stand-alone and had no trouble
following along although now, I really want to read the previous books. It was a slow-burn romance that was well
written and easy to read. I loved
meeting the large boisterous Kincaid family and all the characters from Pine
Harbour.
Catie Berton moved back to Pine Harbour after her mother
died. She never understood why her mom
moved them there when she was a child especially when the people spread awful
rumors about her. She had a crush on
Will when she was fourteen years old and even though she found him to be
irritating she cannot help but crush on him still. Catie loved Pine Harbour and wanted to help
improve the small town, so she was on several committees. When she heard the search and rescue team
needed females for their group, she was happy to volunteer.
School Principal Will Kincaid was liked by everyone in Pine
Harbour except Catie. He is not sure why
he has such a reaction to her but after she turned down his offer to be part of
the bachelor auction for her fundraiser, he can’t help himself. Avoiding each other in the small town was
hard but when she joins the search and rescue team, he is forced to work with
her as part of the team.
