Show of Honor by Tawna Fenske

I always hoped I’d see her again after she rocked my world last Christmas.
I never thought she’d have my baby in her arms.

Show of Honor, a must read, surprise baby holiday standalone novella sure to make you fall in love with Juniper Ridge from USA Today bestselling author Tawna Fenske, is available now!

I always hoped I’d see her again after she rocked my world last Christmas. I never thought she’d have my baby in her arms.

I also didn’t see myself dressed as a deranged bear the first time I held my daughter, or even that I’d have a daughter. Navy SEAL life isn’t great for fatherhood, but seeing Jessie with Joy hits me like a happy holiday thunderbolt.

Jessie’s not sure she trusts me, and who can blame her? Maybe if we’d swapped more than ten words before falling into bed that snowy night, we wouldn’t be strangers. But I can’t regret our fling, just like I can’t ditch a military career I’ve spent my whole life wanting.

But maybe there’s something I want more. Jessie. A bond with our baby and heaps of happy, mixed-up holiday memories we’re making as we bond over gift wrap gaffes, sexy dreidel games, and kisses hot enough to melt mistletoe.

I just need to prove we belong together, preferably before one of us hops a flight and gets gone for good.

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

My review:

Show of Honor is a novella in between books three and four of the Juniper Ridge series.  I read it as a standalone and do not feel as I missed anything.  This was a second chance and surprise baby romance so if you like those troupes this is a light and a festive novella.  At first, I felt it was slow-paced but once the two main characters meet again at the end of the second chapter it started to pick up.  While the pace picked up, I felt like the characters did not have a strong connection until the ending.  In the beginning, all the scenes between the two were brief and had no depth.  Finally, by the last few chapters, their interactions became detailed, and I could feel their connection.  Overall, it was a light, fun, interesting book.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
