Sometimes love finds you in the most unexpected places.
As We Are by Claudia Burgoa is now live!
From USA TODAY Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa comes a single-dad sports romance where the only thing more heartfelt than the small town is the love story.
I never wanted to go back to Baker's Creek.
But when it rains, it pours. I lost my job, lost the guy, and lost the house. The perfect trifecta of ruin.
Ten years after I said I can make it on my own, I have no choice but to ask for help. But it's my mother who needs me now...
So it's back to where I don't belong.
There's no opportunity in my hometown. The only job that I can get is nannying. For a player from the Vancouver Orcas. "Mean" Mills Aldridge is going to be my new boss... and I'm supposed to pretend he isn't sex on skates.
Between avoiding the town mean girls, helping my parents, and trying not to behave like a puck bunny, my job with that sweet boy is fast becoming just like the rest of my life--one big complication.
My only escape is my late-night chats with Mills.
The confessions we share make me feel like I belong. The stolen kisses make it hard to remember why I ever left.
Until the opportunity I've been waiting for arrives, and it's time for me to say goodbye.
But can I leave that little boy and his father behind?
The Baker's Creek Billionaire Brothers series is a romantic comedy saga that's swoonful and sexy, with the right mix of ugly-cry moments and sweet seductions.
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My review:
As We Are is the fifth book in The Baker’s Creek Billionaire
Brothers series. It was the first book I
have read in the series, and it was acceptable as a stand-alone. Although I wish I had started reading them
all from the beginning because I really enjoyed meeting the Aldridge family and
would love to know all their stories.
The book was fast-paced and once I started reading, I did not want to
put it down. Having six brothers and
their family living together created fun of all sorts! I loved the witty banter between them and
seeing their relationship grow as they worked together to fulfill their
father’s conditions in his will. This
book was Mills’ story, the single dad of the adorable Arden.
Mills Aldridge’s hockey career is on a hiatus while he is
recovering from a knee injury. In order
to meet their father’s conditions, the brothers must live in Baker’s Creek and
cannot hire staff for the house. The
entire house is in an uproar since the newest Aldridge has arrived and two more
are expected anytime. The family agrees
they need to have a nanny to help with the children, but they cannot hire and
pay anyone. After meeting Hadley Heywood
and realizing she needs help, Mills comes up with a way for Hadley to get help
for her family while she helps with the Aldridge children.
Hadley reluctantly returns to Baker’s Creek after
discovering her ex-boyfriend cheating on her.
She has no job or money, and her parents are in a bad situation
themselves. She wants to help her
parents and the offer from the Aldridge’s is too good for her to turn
down. Hadley is trying to recover from
her previous disastrous relationship but maintaining a professional
relationship with Mills is difficult when the attraction between the two is so
strong.
This was a wonderful story and I like how the author added
intrigue by having the siblings work on figuring out their father’s
secrets. It kept the storyline
interesting and added depth to the series.
I really want to know what they discover and look forward to reading the
other books in the series.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
