BLURB:
Is it an accidental pregnancy, if it’s purposefully planned?
Autumn Kulis wants a baby. It’s that simple and that complicated because one thing stands in her way - she doesn’t have a man in her life. And at almost forty, she isn’t getting any younger. On a two-week trip to her brother’s lakeside cottage, a plan forms. Make a list of three men. Sleep with each of them. Allow nature to take its course. Only, a certain someone gets in her way.
Logan Anders goes with the flow of life. Divorced, single dad, he works hard, and occasionally plays harder. When his college roommate invites him to Lakeside Cottage for two weeks, he hadn’t remembered his best friend’s little sister being so hot. Nor was he a fan of her plan to find a baby daddy. He’s determined to make her list then tear it to shreds leaving him the only man horizontal with her.
When we were forty, we had so much life to live, and a simple proposition could be the start of a second chance at really living.

My review:
Living at 40 is the first book in the Lakeside Cottage series and it was such a wonderful book! I have just recently discovered this author and I have adored every book I have read. Her books are so emotional, and I’ve learned to always have a box of tissue while reading one. This one was certainly a roller coaster of emotions. The pacing was perfect, the characters charming, and the plot had many layers. The series is based on four men who became best friends in college and been there for each other for the last twenty-two years. Ben Kulis was the glue that held them together and the year they all turned forty, Ben invites the guys to take a two-week vacation altogether. He wants to spend the week living life to the fullest before he shares his tragic news.
“You live and love, lose and learn, and then you start all over again.”
Autumn Kulis has reached a point in her life where she wants
a baby but after her most recent breakup, she doesn’t want another
relationship. Anna, her sister-in-law,
teasingly suggests that Autumn makes a list of three men and sleeps with each
to get pregnant.
Logan Anders, one of Ben’s friends, can’t believe how Autumn has changed over the years. He was not sure why he felt so strongly about Autumn and her list, but he knows he wants to be the only man on that list. At the end of the two weeks, their attraction to each other has grown but they live three hours away from each other and they had agreed to no strings.
There was so much going on in each of the men’s lives and
they each were in different phases in their lives. Their friendship had seen them through each
other’s marriages, break-ups, having children, and divorces but now they are
facing a tragedy. I really enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to the
next one even though I know it will be sad.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
