My review:

A Real Cowboy Always Protects is the eighth book in the Wyoming Rebels series.  This was a new-to-me author, and I had no trouble reading this book as a stand-alone.  Although after finishing it I really want to go back and read the previous books.  I loved meeting the Stockton friends and family.  They were outgoing and had a door’s always an open attitude to friends.  You could feel the family unity and the love they shared for each other.  The book was well written and the pacing perfect. 

Logan Stockton tried to protect everyone from getting harmed due to his profession as a CIA agent.  He saw his family rarely and kept everyone at arm’s length.  Skylar, his next-door neighbor, made it hard for him to stick to his decision.  She was smart, sassy, and always full of sunshine.  She helped the darkness disappear for a few moments.  When she gets caught between him and his enemies, he takes her home to his family to keep her safe.  He knew his siblings would welcome her and help him keep her safe.

Skylar Jones was done with men and relationships.  Her handsome neighbor was fun to chat with but that’s as far as she would go.  Though once she is caught between gunfire, she must rely on him to keep her safe, which cracks some of the walls around her heart.  Falling for Logan scared her, but she could not see a future for them because she refused to risk everything again.

This was a lovely book, and the characters were genuine and easy to connect with.  I would have enjoyed the book being longer and getting to see more interactions between Logan and Skylar.  They were such a perfect couple, and I cannot wait to read the stories of the other Stockton siblings.
