He had a plan…
She changed it all!
Major Aidan Murphy arrives in the charming small town of Hollydale to take full guardianship of his six-year-old nephew. Only there’s a slight problem—his vivacious, fiery co-guardian. School teacher Natalie Harrison has no intention of letting Aidan take her best friend’s heartbroken little boy away. Now Aidan must convince Natalie that blood is stronger than love…even if his heart tells him otherwise.
The Soldier’s Unexpected Family is the third book in the
Hollydale Heroines series. This was a
new-to-me author and if fact I did not realize it was actually part of a series
until I started reading the book. I do
not feel that reading it as a stand-alone was a concern though… although now I
think I will go back and read earlier books.
Of course, characters from the previous books were included and some
events referenced but overall, they did not affect this book. The book was paced perfectly and flowed
smoothly. The small town of Hollydale and
its citizens were charming and full of warmth.
I loved the feeling of friendship, good-naturedness, and openness they
showed Aidan, a stranger in town. Having
lost most of his family, Aidan Murphy was committed to raising Danny, his
half-sister’s son. He was not expecting to
fall for Natalie or grow to love Hollydale.
Natalie had taken on the guardianship of her best friend’s son, Danny,
and knew her best friend wanted him to grow up being surrounded by those who loved
him in Hollydale. Her heart was torn trying
to make the right decision for Danny’s future.
I really enjoyed this book. It
was a heartwarming small-town romance that leaves you smiling after reading it.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
